Do you agree with federer when he said...

"Andy [murray] is as close as you can get to winning a slam – there is nothing missing from his game."

Maybe when Rafa, Djoker or Roger retire he will, oh wait...

Rafa: My favorite .. right now is Federer, no? Because he is a perfect tennis player.
Interviewer: Is... Roger Federer?
Rafa: Yeah.
Interviewer: Uh huh, what about in the women's side?
Rafa: Well I'm not, um, watching a lot of women... women tennis.

That statement could definitely be interpreted in two ways, one; that Andy's really completed his evolution as a player and it's no way but up from here, and two: that this is as good as it gets for him.
I'd like to see the context before I can judge properly.

Sure, he lost to the eventual champ the last two slams.

Hope he gets it right this time unlike when he said Djokovic had a longer way to go than Gasquet

Murray does have the game to beat anyone. He just hasn't been able to keep it together mentally for an entire Slam yet.

Roddick has a better chance. I like his draw.

yes, i do

murray should beat nadal in the semis in wimby this year, if nadal makes it that far of course. in the final, he should face federer and i think he's got a good shot at beating him.

Re: Do you agree with federer when he said...

yeah, Murray definitely has all the tools. Anyone who says Murray has "no chance" of winning a slam is being ridiculous. He has everything he needs, it's just a matter of utilizing it at the right moments, taking advantage of situations, staying mentally strong, etc etc etc. So far he's come up short a few times, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the game for winning one.

He loses to the eventual champ in many slams lately! (which gives me a chance to some shameless own thread promoting).

Losing against the eventual slam winner- An Open Era overview

He's so near yet so far from winning one. It's all in his head.

Yes I do agree. Every part of his game is at least solid if not better.

Re: Do you agree with federer when he said...

Murray has lost in 3 finals and has lost to the eventual champion in a few others. He is very close to winning one, so yeah, he is the closest to winning a slam you can be without winning one. That will change though, when he wins some.

ANDY MURRAY

SLAMS: 3 WINS, 8 finals, 9 semi-finals, 7 quarter-finals...
WORLD TOUR FINALS: 3 semi-finals...
MASTERS: 12 WINS, 6 finals, 13 semi-finals, 18 quarter-finals...
OLYMPICS: 2 gold medals, 1 silver...
DAVIS CUP: 2016 champion...
MATCH WIN/LOSS: 602-172...
TITLES: 39 and counting...
