Federer in the line-up against Australia!

Roger Federer is in the official line-up for the tie against Australia. From official twitter:

Quote:
DavisCup Davis Cup
#Switzerland's #DavisCup team for play-off against #Australia confirmed: #Federer, Wawrinka, Bohli, Chiudinelli
Of course he could still withdraw but for example against Kazakhstan last year he wasn't in the line-up.

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

Re: Why doesn't Roger Federer compete in the Davis Cup for Switzerland

That's great. I think he should play more Davis Cup. I hope he really plays this tie against Australia.

Can't see Australia winning now... unless they put Gooch in for the singles... I'm pretty sure he would destroy Federer on these fine slick grass golf courts...

Re: Federer & Davis Cup Thread

I think winning some matches here will be good for his morale at least.

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo

Federer's family as an excuse.

"Davis Cup is always difficult and I don't take that decision easily, I don't feel good when I see the doubles team play seven hours and then lose. That was one of the worst things for me," Federer said. “But I can't have it all or win it all. I have to take the decisions that are right for my career. I try to communicate with the team but that always boomerangs back at you. I hope I can play more in the future, but it's been tough the last few years. I also have a family and you have to understand that as well."

Without his family for his week-long South American trip : 12 millions.
Without his family for his Rotterdam appearance fee : over a million.

Playing for your country in your own country : Sorry, I have a family.

I understand that.
Would it hurt them to skip on that one million Rotterdam paycheck?

They guy can spend the week with his family in Switzerland or he go and play in the Netherlands without them.

Many guys have a family and they still play Davis Cup.
They just don't get these fat paychecks.

Why should he have to give up millions for the sake of national pride.

Would you?

Re: Federer's family as an excuse.

I don't get this thread. Maybe his family don't want to travel? Hence why when he's at home, he wants to spend time with them, rather than play DC tie?

Mark Lenders banged your girlfriend, I'm sorry to tell you that mate.
