Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

Maybe they could downgrade Bradnam in that case. But seriously speaking, I really think Eurosport might push in 2014. I still find it hard to believe that they would have three Slams but really nothing else.

Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

This is a shame for the WTA as it went perfectly with Eurocrap's shit programming. Now Eurosport are down to 3 slams. What a joke of a network they are.

"Down to 3 Slams"? Well, I'd say that's not bad. I don't know if there's any European broadcaster who has 3/4 Slams? What about the States or Australia? How divided are they?

TBkeeper. They have shown ATP Queens for years and if I remember correctly also ATP Doha and ATP Eastbourne.

Really, Eurosport has always shown so much tennis and the company is French. They have to somehow fill the time slots after they lose WTA. Why don't get a lot of ATP 250's? It's way better than many of those WTA mugfests.

More ATP 250s replacing WTA is all good. Gets Tutu and co's knickers in a twist as well

Don't talk about what you don't know. Eurosport will just stay with Roland Garros, Australian Open, US Open, Queens and just 2 or 3 more tournaments. Just that, anything more. True information, won't be Miguel Seabra (from Eurosport Portugal) my friend.

Oh, they have shown hundreds and hundreds hours of tennis every year for 25 years and now they will show three Grand Slams and three other tournaments during the whole year? That's not even clever. They have to have some kind of small build up before the tournaments. Maybe some claycourt events before RG and some hardcourt events before US.

And by the way I'm just guessing here. I don't have some Portuguese Eurosport commentators as my buddies.

Besides, how will they fill the missing hours? Armwrestling, rock-paper-scissors and some wrestling from the 80's?

And what I know of, Eurosport is pretty different in different countries. Eurosport Germany is different than Eurosport Portugal. And so is Eurosport Scandinavia, or British Eurosport.

Good example is the US Open. Apparently the Brits get a only the first week live, when the rest of Europe gets the whole two weeks. A huge difference, but the same channel.

TigerTim: Does ITV shit on Eurosport in Australia and US Open? And does BBC shit on them during US Open? Or does Sky Sports shit on them during RG? Or does only Eurosport show those three Slams? ITV has one? Sky has one? BBC has two? Well that's not much to shit about.

Here Eurosport get the outside courts- the matches Sky don't want. Sky get Arthur Ashe and Armstrong at all times and in the 2nd week Eurosport's coverage dries up as they run out of matches.

Here its:

Australian Open (UK Eurosport, BBC)
Roland Garros (UK Eurosport, ITV)
Wimbledon (BBC)
US Open (Sky, UK Eurosport)

Sky also show all Masters series events, Rotterdam, Tokyo and Dubai.

Great news. After Henin retired, the WTA clay season has been an utter mugfest every year. All WTA players should be relegated to outside courts during RG, until at least one of them learns how to properly slide, move and hit with spin, rather than mindlessly ballbashing like they do on hard courts.

Yes, my list was correct then. Eurosport has three. That's two more than Sky and ITV. I wouldn't call that shitting. US Open rights are obviously pretty weak at the US Open. But the rest of Europe gets Ashe and Armstrong from start to finish live.

On a another note while we are laughing at Eurosport. This thread is titled Eurosport Loses Roland Garros TV rights. Yeah, sure did.

The whole WTA is a mugfest, not just the clay season. Three hours of pushing and all that other nonsense. But I have no clue what the WTA is thinking. They won't get a better partner than Eurosport. No major network is gonna pay for that anything special. If the WTA executives think they can get a good deal, they are 10 years too late.

According to the Tennis Forum both The Scandinavian Eurosport and German Eurosport are still negotiating about something. Probably not about the WTA rights. If we go by your info, there seems to be huge negotiations about one 250 tournament?
