Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

this was the first year I enjoyed the eurosport coverage. they tended to stick with the obscure men's 5 setters rather than switching to some shitty wta beatdowns like they used to. they also had jason goodall commentating. in fact their second stream commentary team as a whole was excellent.

if you want to nit-pick though their picture quality is very shoddy by modern standards. it's really being exposed this week with the BBC broadcasting Queens in HD.

Oh well, right here I was able to watch it on at least 4 open channels I believe. Eurosport was the worst by far, so I'll manage.

Providing they offer commentary. The lack of, which is the one thing that annoys me about the interactive service. They have 4 commentators rotating but 2 of them are always twiddling their thumbs, and if the main match finishes early the same commentators just go on to the interactive match. Irritating.

Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

Good news for Brits I think, at least if Sky pick it up. Too many interesting matches on outside courts missed thanks to Eurosport, not to mention too much time spent with WTA. Not really any other candidates here, BBC or ESPN? Ofcourse it could always end up going back to British Eurosport anyway.

Agree. JG's commentary was a huge plus. Much as I enjoy his pre-match analyses which are invariably excellent, I would much prefer him to be used as a frontline commentator.

Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

That's a really bad news for me I liked ES coverage of RG, they usaed 2 channels to broadcast matches, ES+ES2 and I liked the commentators. Now what happens? Some sh!t operator will buy the rights for broadcasting RG over here, will show maybe 4-5 matches per day with terrible commentating and that will be all just like it is now with Wimbledon in this country. I was hoping ES would buy Wimbledon instead they lost even RG

When I'm good, I'm very good...but when I'm bad, I'm better

3 for a quid from Poundland. Or 2 if they're the big pots.

Re: Eurosport Loses Roland Garros Tv rights

hmmm... wimbledon being an exception to overt sponsorship of course, the slams should be adopting the style of coverage that the champions league and formula 1 - 1st make sure the presentation is 1st class, then get into as many houses as possible and let sponsors pay thru the nose...

the itf events actually have a duty to the overall health of tennis to do this...

TV3 used to broadcast Wimbledon for like 15 years though, maybe it's time to finally get a Slam back?
God, I that all these events are getting split between overpriced pay channels! I bet in a few years we'll have 4 different channels showing the majors. Wouldn't that be marvelous?
