Queens R1: Defending champ Querrey def. Nishikori 6-3 6-4

Good performance from Sam for the most part. He played a focused match and served very well.

Kei showed a lot of his talent but he still has a lot of development to do to really be a top player. Cutting out some of the flash and replacing it with substance would be a good start.

Come on Sam, win the title again ...thought this was definitely a match he might lose, but good that he hasn't. He's surprised the last couple weeks, didn't expect him to beat Kohli at RG either

Sorry Nishikori, Querrey served too good. Expected. Nishikori isn't overrated, guys, a little?

Never ever give up

He's starting to pick it up, he's more focused now. He's got more energy on court and he's playing more aggressively. Hopefully he keeps that up, because now he's defending quite a few points.

Yep he has a 4th round at Wimbledon and then his good US Open run too...hopefully he's peaking for the season at the right time

Querrey makes me weep with this win. Not to mention himself.

Kei seems to be going backwards at present.. I really do hope he can produce better than just flashes of brilliance at Wimby.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

Maybe, but at the same time, he's not solid enough right now to beat top players consistently. He'll just be another guy who hangs around, like Malisse. He could be much better than that, but he needs to mature on court mentally and be smarter.

Querrey is a mug, but he was quite watchable today.

Had one amazing running lob up the line, pure class.
