(RG '11) Six qualifiers in round 32 of a slam... record?

Kubot, Falla, Rosol, Darcis, Veic and Leo Mayer. Is this unprecedented? Kubot and Rosol got big scalps as well.
By contrast only four non-seeded players with direct entry made it to round 32 (not counting Chardy who is one set down to Simon right now).

Good for the game.

All this tells me is this event sucks. Wake me up when it's over. I'm only following it exclusively because of my guy Darcis.

Love it.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

I haven't seen more than maybe 4 well played matches this entire tournament, men's or women's. Then again, it is nice to see lower ability players having their time to shine.

Why does it suck to have new talented blood, players coming back to form and/or surprises?

Because there isn't decent tennis being played.

None of your faves made it, so you're having a cry.

I like the surprises, to a certain extent. It's also good to see players who you know can actually keep a decent form for more than 2 or 3 matches. But the quality of play, especially today, was not good.

A few of my favorites have, which thank tennis Jesus they have, but overall, the tennis quality at this event has been bad, and I don't really consider this a clay event anymore. It's hard court tennis being played on clay.

I thought you loved following challengers?

Korolev-Junqueira was better tennis than basically every single ATP and WTA match I saw today. It was also played on a real clay court, not a hard court with dirt on it.

The challengers are usually better tennis than the ATP matches, especially from a competitive standpoint.

Still it made a guy like Bjorn Phau win it last year and this year let dudes like Bemelmans and Nielsen of all people advance to the quarters (Carreno Busta also punished a more pushing opponent and Korolev should have eliminated the dirtballer Junqueira, not to mention Bautista-Agut another quick court specialist will soon join them).
