RG Round 1: Monfils def. Phau 4-6 6-3 7-5 6-0

Bjorn outplayed Monfils for 2 of the first three sets. He was the one dictating play, being offensive, hitting great shots at the net, and Bjorn just collapsed. Couldn't win the close points. Monfils' movement caused him issues. Monfils basically just let Bjorn self-destruct. I'm sad because Bjorn would have beaten the majority of players in the draw had he played this level outside of the forth set. But since he has very little to defend these next months, I expect him to be back in the top 100 sooner than later if he keeps this up.

even monfils doesn't deserve to be called a lesser player than phau.

This. Awful thread title.

Another clownish thread title.

Monfils will hand out his presents later in the event.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

@ this thread title.

Phau looked like he gave up before the fourth set even started.

Bjorn was the better player in set one and three, and should have won the sets. All Monfils did was run. Bjorn was hitting the ball better, playing intelligently, offensively, and dictating proceedings. Bjorn simply failed to deliver when it mattered.

Why can't you put that in the OP instead of the thread title señor?

This is why Monfils is seeded 9th and Phau is ranked outside the top 100.

French crowd will get an all-French affair, surely to be on Chatrier on Wednesday

There, thread title is changed. Still, major missed opportunity for the German. He should have won this match.

Filo, these skewed thread titles are lowering your credibility by the minute.

"When I'm asked, how is it to be around Federer, and what is he really like, I always reply, "I wish people could meet him when cameras or an audience aren't around, as he is one of the nicest people I have ever met when stringing on tour. " -- drakulie

Lol, flyboy really goes too far in the thread title this time.

Unbelievable that he follows this much tennis and still doesn't know much about it.

I don't see why it matters either way.

Poor Björn. Didn't deserve a bagel after a surprising good performance.
