Post Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

There are 16 French players left in the draw at this current moment.

Jeremy Chardy who plays Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 18th seeded Gilles Simon, qualifier Eric Prodon who faces Andy Murray, veteran Arnaud Clement, stamina king Nicolas Mahut, Edouard Roger-Vasselin who faces Czech Lukas Rosol, Julien Benneteau who is through to round 2 to face David Ferrer, 22nd seeded serve and volleyer Michael Llodra, Guillame Rufin who could face fellow countryman Gael Monfils who kicks his RG off with a match against Bjorn Phau and Florent Serra who somehow stays in the top 100 losing every ATP match he seems to play. Serra, if he beats Andreev, could meet Jo-Willie Tsonga who is seeded 17th. Maxime Teixeira is also still around, beating Vincent Millot in a 5 set Frenchie battle. Stephane Robert, 13th seeded Richie Gasquet and Benoit Paire round off the Frenchie department, and will face 6th seeded Tomas Berdych, Radek Stepanek and Nice finalist Victor Hanescu respectively.

So, out of all these guys, who will be the last one(s) standing? I think Gael will go the furthest. He feeds off the crowd and has beaten Ferrer here before.

Hopefully Gasquet, Tsonga or Llodra. Other of them are mugs, except Mahut who won't go far.

LIKE: Stepanek, Youzhny, Stakhovsky, Raonic, Pouille || HATE: Nadal, Almagro, Monfils, Troicki, Simon, Tipsarevic

Simon, Gasquet and Monfils play round 4. Maybe Tsonga too if he has a good day against Wawrinka.

Never ever give up

Tsonga's draw is great for 1/4. Gasquet and Monfils to lose in 3rd round or 1/8

Re: Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

Gael will be. He's the best french on clay and play very good in Paris (2 finals in Bercy and semis + quarters in Roland Garros). He has a good draw with no danger before 1/8 and David Ferrer. He beat him in 2008 in RG and i think he will do it again. And i don't think there will be another french in quarters.
He could even beat Roger in quarters because he did it in Bercy last november, it will help him!

Re: Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

Richie for sure, he will be at 1/4 and fight vs Del Potro. Tso`ll loose to Roger and Monfils even won`t take part on the second week.

Gasquet is next №1

Re: Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

I think there are only 4 good french players - good i mean top 20 now. So Simon has pretty easy draw and should make 4R and even against Soderling he has chances i think with his deffense and long rallies Robin could make many UE and loose that match, but for now i say Simon will make 4R. Monfils also should be in 4R and then David Ferrer- if David will play good like MC, BArca then DAvid will win, if he will struggle like last weeks then Monfils. so for Gael 4R-QF. Tsonga 3-4R it all depends on Wawrinka - Tsonga just will never be clay GOAT, but Wawrinka already lost one set so who knows.
Gasquet 3-4R too it also depends on Bellucci´s form.

Tsonga, Monfils, Simon and Gasquet all have great chances of making the 4th round.

Re: Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

Have a good feeling about Tsonga for some reason. And that's weird considering his up and down (mostly down) form this season.

Gasquet's opener is a tricky one considering their past meetings and how annoyed he gets by Step's antics. Mind you, he seems a lot more mature and confident coming into it this time so it he should be the big favourite. But you never know with his abysmal GS results.

You can't discount Monfils with his record at RG (well last year he made a hash of it but SF in '08 and QF in '09 should count for something).

Re: Who will be the last Frenchie standing at Roland Garros?

Tsonga could lose in R2 to either Serra or Andreev, and if by some off chance he doesn't, he will lose to Wawrinka, shall they play, in R3.

I think Simon and Gasquet have the best chances to go to the QF stage. Richie will definitely beat Stepanek and I think he's in a good confidence. Gilles is in good form and these courts/balls suit his game.
