RG FQR: Darcis def. Bogomolov 6-1 6-3

A really great effort from Steve to qualify after really being on the brink of losing against Lisnard, and then coming from a set down v Dutra da Silva. Was down a break in the second set here but came back to finish off the volatile American. Very impressive result for him.

Obvious tank is obvious, Bogomolov will make the main draw anyway.

Ouch. Bad loss for Boggers.

Still, good to see Darcis get some form.

LL's are randomly drawn in GS events from the top seeded players left in the last round.

Bogomolov fancies his chances of a LL spot. Good for Darcis to qualify.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Bogo is in the LL pool with Greul and Minar currently. There will be about 4-5 LL's most likely. He may or may not get one, depends on luck for him.

I thought it's just the top 4 ranked players left in the final round of qualies who get drawn at random. As there are 4 lucky losers at least Bogo may have known beforehand.

After Gimelstob withdrew playing 1 game in last round of qualies knowing he'd get the LL, they changed it to a pool where its randomly drawn from the top players left in final Q round.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

As I said it's from the highest seeds left in the last round of qualies, depending on the amount of LL's needed. Bogomolov is one of them.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

AJ explained it perfectly. Highest seeds of players who lose, are put into a pool, 5 players (at least). Basically a "pick out of the hat" type thing, in this case at least 4 guys will be selected since there are four LL positions.

If there was only 1 lucky loser then it comes from 1 of the 4 highest ranked players left...not necessarily seeded players.

I remember the year where there were around 6 LL's and Horna lost in the last round to Junqueira, he was seeded #3 didn't get in. Then someone pulled out and he was in, funny enough the draw he got was better.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".
