Tip World Tour Finals 8.

It's time to post my old thread again, after all the changes in the tennis world. The current top 5 seems untouchable.Ferrer will surely be there. I have my doubts about Berdych, we all know he won't defend his points at Wimbledon. The big question is Roddick, I think he has a slight chance to get into the elit 8. Then consider Del Potro, he obviously has the potential to crack that level, but everybody unsure about his health. Seems like hes having alot of injuries. Ferrer will surely be there. Tip the black horse.

Other than the sure 7, in my opinion: Berdych, Tsonga, Roddick. Guys that have solid chances.

Re: Tip World Tour Finals 8.

7 spots seem very likely:

Top5 are a given, perhaps a minor questionmark over Sod's fitness and the coaching changes. Ferrer is almost there already (2785 pts, about 3500 usually gets you there). Del Potro probably makes it also, unless he gets another long period out. He's 9th in the race atm even on the comeback.

Last spot is usually the really interesting one. Roddick & Berd are the obvious candidates, but perhaps Gasquet?

Melzer prolly won't be far off if he can get fit for more than a match or two at a time.

Fish still has the N American hard court season.

Almagro if he has a good Roland Garros? Good points so far, but unlikely to get major points in the 2nd half of the year.

Raonic? 11th in the race already, and the events coming are better suited to his serve also.

Then of course Tsonga could make a late season run - another Paris charge?

Don't forget Tsonga who seems to have gotten sick of clowning around his tennis years.

Berdych is in pole position though right now: he's 7 in the race and has virtually nothing to defend after Toronto.

Re: Tip World Tour Finals 8.

From the race, 7-25...

Ber 1525
Alm 1440
Del 1375
Tro 1155 <---yes, really, troicki is 10th in race :-)
Rao 1093
Gas 1090
Waw 1080
Rod 1030
Dol 1010
May 960
Sim 940
Cil 915
Bel 840
Mel 835
Fis 830
Rob 830
Tso 760
And 715
Dod 645

Almost have to think about it in parallel ways - guys like Fish, Tsonga, Roddick have the chance to pick up fairly big points in masters finals, or even winning em. Del Pot can do the same in a slam. That almost qualifies them in one move.

Most of the rest need a full season's worth of consistency.

Re: Tip World Tour Finals 8.

World tour finals will make those players who earn most points in calendar year before WTF, so why are you even talking about defending points? Already it is 2nd Rafa, 3rd Ferrer, 4th Roger 5th Murray, 6th Soderling 7th Berdych, 8th Almagro, 9th Delpo 10th Troicki, 11th Raonic, so i think Rafa, Ferrer , Roger and Murray should make it pretty easy - if stay healthy. Soderling and Berdych should too - they better part of season is coming - RG, Wimby, US hardcourts and indoor season - they should be pretty comfortable there and make a lot of poits- thanks to their ranking at least QF at most tournaments what should be enough. But who knows Robin is pretty inconsistant and Berdych just isnt´so good either, but he at least is making QF all the time. Delpo if stay healthy should make it if not not, i don´t see Troicki in London, don´t know why, but Raonic, Gasquet, Roddick, Wawrinka and of course Almagro who is right now 8th have big chance.

Re: Tip World Tour Finals 8.

Berdych is 7 in the race and he's hardly played that well for his standards this year, far too many matches he should of won he's ended up losing and what not. And I know he'll play better tennis somewhere this year so I have a good feeling about him making it.

What exactly does this have to do with the race? Wimbledon only affects his ranking short-term, not that important to the race. A quarter-final there for him will go a long way.

Top5, Ferrer, Del-Potro, Berdych. I see this happening in the end. Almagro, Melzer, Wawrinka, Dolgopolov, Raonic, Gasquet etc. all feels too inconsistent to crack the year-end top8.

That would be my guess too.

The others possibly yes, although Raonic is a wildcard, nobody really knows how high he can do. Imagine what his serve will do in Cinci or Paris. He also looked totally nerveless in Aus, and a slam-class mentality is a huge, huge plus. The US Open could be great for him.

Melzer is 8 atm, despite 3 months of constant injuries. If he can do it now, he can do it for the end of the season.

Re: Tip World Tour Finals 8.

Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray are definitely there anyway, they are the top 4. Ferrer is too, surely. Berdych is very consistent and should get there. That's 6. Soderling? Hmmm, I'm not sure. His form is very suspect, but he should get there if he keeps grinding some wins out. There are a few who could make the last place. Melzer, Troicki, Del Potro and Almagro could all make it. The rest aren't good enough to make it. I think it's between these 4 and possibly Gasquet too.

In my opinion, I am hoping either Melzer, Almagro or Troicki make it. They haven't been in WTF before, so it would be nice to have some new guys there. Del Potro will probably make it instead though, unless his injury keeps him out for a while.

Djokovic
Nadal
Federer
Murray
Ferrer
Berdych
Soderling
Del Potro

This is the most likely outcome.

ANDY MURRAY

SLAMS: 3 WINS, 8 finals, 9 semi-finals, 7 quarter-finals...
MASTERS: 12 WINS, 5 finals, 13 semi-finals, 18 quarter-finals...
WTF: 3 semi-finals...
OTHER: Olympic gold and silver medals, Davis Cup champion...
MATCH WIN/LOSS: 592-171...
TITLES: 38 and counting...

Nole, Roger, Rafa and Murray are pretty much shoe-ins, I think...

Ferrer and Soderling next, don't know about the last two spots, we could see a big battle by the end of the year. I don't think Berdych will be back.

He hasn't played a final since Wimbledon....that says a lot.
