RG Q1: R. Harrison saves MP def. J. Ward 6-7 7-5 6-2

Ward broke very early in 2nd set and didn't give it up until the very end. Was serving 7-6 *5-4 30-0 and blew it. He had one mp on 40-30, but got broken, and then lost the next two games and got rolled in the third.

Tough one, James Ward, join the club.

Ryan is wanting to learn. He decided to play qualies rather than trying for the U.S. wildcard entry. I congratulate him for wanting to grind it out through the qualies and get match play.

Good stuff, Ryan. Just keep at it.

James has blown leads in the past so I'm not surprised, but a great fightback for Ryan on a surface that he lacks experience on. These type of results are big wins for him and his development as a player.

Ryan is the anti-Donald Young. The kid loves to scrap, and I respect him actually wanting to play the qualies at RG.

Of course Ryan isn't going to make a huge run at RG (and qualifying would be a great result after struggling with Ward), but any comeback win like this in a Grand Slam qualifying match shows some mental fortitude that is nice to see.

WTF he won that match
Guess when I had to leave, yes it was 5-4 30-0 in the 2nd set and now I come back to see he won this match somehow

Federer |Söderling |most of the Germans

I also like: Wawrinka | Tsonga | Dimitrov | Isner | Gulbis |

Warm regards: 6-3 6-0 / 6-3 6-4

This was the only way Harrison could win a match on RG. With a even bigger mug than him on clay (and that it's not easy). Stick to Hard, young man!

Great fight from Ryan, now a winnable R2 against Daniel Munoz De La Nava

DMDLN it's not the clay goat, but he's a claycourter (even if it's a bad one). 10% of chances to Ryan, in this one.

We saw what ''stick to hard'' brought to other American players in last years
