Re: Longest winning and losing streaks of active players. Must be tour level and 10+

I see Fed had a losing streak of 9 straight . Although it was back when he was a bit of a headcase.

I think Rafa's longest losing streak was in 2009 when he lost to Nole in SF of Paris Bercy then lost all three RR matches at the WTF that year. That's probably(to my knowledge) the only time, in his career, that Rafa went beyond a 1/2 match losing streak.

Does anyone know what's the longest losing streak Nole and Murray have ever been on?

Re: Longest winning and losing streaks of active players. Must be tour level and 10+

Machado lost 17 matches in a row from Costa da Sauipe 2011 which ended at Estoril when he beat Pedro Sousa.

Players that beat him.

Code:
Almagro
Chela
RRH
Nishi
Hanescu
Benne
Fog
Haase
Volandri
Monfils
Bellucci
Ferrer
Simon
Chardy
GGL
Guti
Hanescu

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Really interesting question - would love to know. Nadal's WTF streak is also slightly exceptional in that he was facing top 8 players - usually if you keep losing in the first rounds of events you're not facing players of that calibre so it's worse to have a streak of 4/5 in normal events than 4/5 where 3 were on consecutive days to fellow top 10ers.

9 for Fed? How old was he?! That's kind of hard to believe. Don't think Murray or Novak would reach that surely - even at Challenger level you'd think they'd be too talented not to get a 1R win at some point.

Nadal's helped by his early success - he never really struggled on the Challenger tour or got humiliated badly by older players for a long time - the fact that he could qualify for MC as a 16 yr old and beat the reigning RG champion seems ridiculous now when someone like Harrison, at 20, winning a 1R Masters match is seen as a big achievement.

What was the last 1R loss Fed/Nole/Murray had? Nadal's was Dodig at Rogers Cup last year I think - technically 2R but first match for him - and that was the first time in a few years.

well Murray would be GGL the other month. Off the top of my head, I think Nole's was Rochus in Miami 2010? Fed... Paris 2009 v Benny maybe?

Wow - what a difference a year makes. Nole really was awful at the start of 2010 and then it all came together post-Wimbledon... Keep thinking a similar switch will flick with Murray - in fact thought it would be this year - but doesn't seem to be happening as yet!

Thanks. So guess even the top 4 get upset here and there - though only in best of 3 - in a grand slam I don't think any have had a first round exit for years. Surprised by early Federer exits in 2009 and 2010 - he's who I normally think of as least vulnerable.

Donald Young up to 13 in a row. Last win was over Dimitrov in Memphis.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

didn't play bad against Mahut though. Mahut was able to hit some exquisite volleys late to clinch that one, but Capdeville competed well.
