Nishikori is a apparently a very good tie-break player : he won 70% of them on all tours, main tour, challenger, future

Good win over his ex-boogeyman!
(Kei used to struggle against Chardy in his junior days.)

Re: Miami R1: Nishikori def Chardy 7-6(5) 6-2

Jeremy served 11 aces and won all but four first serve points, but had 11 DFs, lost 2/3s of second serve points and served at 50% first serves. His usual inconsistency whereas Kei seemingly kept it solid and served at a great percentage, especially in the second set. Florida is like his home away from home so I expect a good match from Kei v Rafa with a lot of energy.

Yes, last year he won 10 tie breakers in a row, from May to September.

Great win for Kei.
He plays Nadal next. Even if an upset is unlikely, he needs to play this kind of matches.

Re: Miami R1: Nishikori def Chardy 7-6(5) 6-2

Chardy had stopped serving for 9 days because of a problem with his ribs : that's why he had lost his rhythm on his serve, esp on second serve (11 DF)

useless old guy

strange that both meetings of Nishikori and Nadal have come on grass. How often does this happen in the modern game??
