Miami R1: Feliciano Lopez def. Richardas Berankis 4-6 7-6(5) 6-3

It was another epic choke (3-0 to 3-6) or problems with health?

If first, this tournament can be already called the mug tournament.
If second, poor Berankis, he had to retire in IW with Verdasco, and now again.

This is what I call an epic choke.

Berankis was up a break in the third.

Losing 6 games in a row against Lopez is quite an achievement.

He lost six games in a row in the 3rd. 19 aces are quite a heap, looks like Feli felt his serve today and Rycka called for a few injury timeouts.

Berankis is so close in breaking through, but tough draws and injuries prevent him from doing so.

Re: Miami R1: F.Lopez def Berankis 4-6 7-6(5) 6-3

It surely looks like back problems again. He was playing well, it is very uncharacteristic of him to lose 6 games in a row in like 15 minutes, winning like 5 points total in those games.. He had injury time out, too.

In an interview before they match he said that the back seems to be much better, but he has to limit the amount of physical work still. So last week against Verdasco he was able to last almost a set before it started hurting again, they had a full week to work on it and now he lasted two and a half sets, but it seems it got to him in the end. Really sad, he had this match in a bag

It seems that he is now going to have a 3 weeks off for rehabilitation and physical training before the clay season, no tournaments in that period, so hopefully it will all be OK when the clay season starts. I realize he is not a superstar or anything, but it would be nice if opposing players proved his true strength to us and not his own health problems it seems that while he is healthy, he is able to fight against them, up a break against Verdasco last week, up a set and a break in third this week against Lopez.. It's just a bit dissapointing that he can't realize his full potential because of those damn health problems.

Tough week for the youngsters so far, good luck to the ones remaining!
