Re: Djokovic is 17-0 to start the year; first man since Sampras to do it

Johnny Mac was 39-0 to start 1984 I think.

Unbeaten until the French Open in June 1984 and he lead that final by 2 sets to love.

Nadal could be the one to end both Fed and Nole's streaks... 7 years apart.

Djokovic isn't even fit to clean Sampras' locker room.

Of course not, it was a very sweaty locker room.

Great start by Nole.

Let's see if he can do some damage from April to July (clay and grass).

I think he will win Monte Carlo. It's Miami he's more likely to lose.

Nole fan: "...most Fedtards seem to be very rabid and rude." (I agree 100%)

You can bet Djokovic's mom just screamed "Another king is dead" right about now - in the remotest corner - of her bathroom - followed by "The other one is buried." (from tennisplanet.me, following Madrid 2011 Djokovic d. Nadal 7-5 6-4)

Djokovic has arguably the best start to a season on ATP tour (since 1990)

The most matches won in a year before a loss was 17*, achieved by Sampras in 1997. The American won his first three tournaments at the Australian Open, San Jose and Philadelphia that year, before losing to 43rd ranked Bohdan Ulihrach in his Indian Wells opener. Djokovic equalled that record with a win over Federer in the semi-finals and the Serbian will set a new record of 18 shall he beat Rafael Nadal and collect the title.

*Since 1990 and for those players who played both Australian Open and Indian Wells.

In my article, http://thebigtip.com.au/tennis/djoko...r-start-season, I compare the best starts to the season (up to Indian Wells) since 1990 including Courier 1993, Agassi 1995, Sampras 1997 and Federer 2004-2007.

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
