One thing that doesn't help him is that the grass season is way too short.
If it was longer,i'd say he would have a very good chance of making again the top 10.

If clown Monfils is in top 10 (don't ask me how..) I guess Richie which is much more talented than him could be in too.
And what about Tabasco, Melzer who used to be in top 10 ??? Ridiculous isn't it ?

My point exactly. Robredo in his day was much better than the current bottom half of the top 10.

Re: Do you think Richard Gasquet could be top 10 again?

The game has always been there more or less, it's just what's in the head that's disappointed him time and time again. His problems have been well documented; namely mental lapses/collapses coupled with a lack of physical fitness that has contributed to him losing from very winnable positions being two sets up (and a break in the third most times).

The fact that he's defeated two top 10 players consecutively at two different tournaments this year for the first time in his career is a nice sign that maybe things are changing for the better. However, people also said that after reaching Wimbledon 2007 SF he would be a sure fixture in the top 10 for years to come which never materialised... but you do sense that this is a more mature Gasquet.

Now that he's beaten one of the best players ever, in a third set tiebreak no less, and consolidated that win with another good one his belief will no doubt increase. Should he maintain this sort of concentration and belief top 10 is definitely within reach (many points to gain at RG and Wimbledon especially). The question is, will he maintain this form? It's one thing to do it every other tournament but top 10 is all about consistency. I'm optimistic this run has provided with renewed inspiration and will lead to greater and bigger things.

Re: Do you think Richard Gasquet could be top 10 again?

I'm surprised at how many no's people have said here.. mostly from everybodies favourite haters to be fair.

I thought so at the beginning of the year and his current form hasn't swayed my opinion obviously.. definately getting back in the top 10 and should stay there. Although I'm absolutely no fan of the guy I'd say it's a good thing.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

Re: Do you think Richard Gasquet could be top 10 again?

Gasquet is heading back to the top 10. I just checked what points he was defending at RG and Wimbledon from last year. Basically he lost first round at RG to Murray and didn't compete at Wimbledon due to injury. With his top 16 seeding, he has a great chance to pick up quite a lot of points, and with a lot of guys ahead of him due to lose a tonne of points (Melzer just for starters) then has a great chance to reach the top 10 very soon. He could reach it if he somehow beats Nadal and Djokovitch back to back in Rome. But it's not gonna happen...

Ritchie is getting closer and closer, i think it's quite possible after Wimbly. He will be playing Davis Cup the week after.

I think the decision not to defend Nice will hurt here. Wouldn't surprise if he's in the year-end top 10 though.
