He lost those matches because he was shit, losses with 2 and 3 means that you are being outclassed. Robin was awful after Wimbledon last season, those losses show that. Could've easily lost against Ferrer in Båstad + Gulbis and Hewitt in the NA masters tournaments if not for some mental strength.
Only way I see Tsonga coming out on top is if Söderling's three consecutive tough night session matches has taken its toll. If he plays on the level he has played with throughout this tournament and given his history with Tsonga, he should win.
