Rock Comparison To Tennis

I think that serve and volley tennis in the early 00s can be compared to what happened in rock music in the early 90s when Nirvana got big ang Hair Metal died out.

I think that Sampras, becker and Ivanisevic were like Motley Crue, Skid Row and Poison and the baseliners that followed that were like Nirvana and Grunge bands

And who would be the equivalent of Oasis?
And what about the transition to today's indie/alternative rock etc.?
