Actually Round One, despite being played after some Round Two matches.

Re: San Jose R2: Monfils def. Klahn: 6-3, 6-2

Monfils played well, probably because he was mad about the beatdown he took in doubles to Bradley and Smyczek at the US Open last year

But seriously, Gael was pretty aggressive and served huge.

On a side note, though, something interesting about this tournament is the three 1990 born players in the main draw.

Berankis was far and away the best junior of the three. Bradley was the second best and chose to go to college. And Milos turned down a college scholarship to Virginia to go pro, and now we see how he, like so many other big guys, takes longer to fill into his body and show his true potential.
I think turning pro would have been in Bradley's best interest, but I can't blame him for going to college. He gets to have a hell of a fun time and get a Stanford degree that can make him a huge amount of money long after his playing career is over.

He seems to be playing well these days. Continuing his good form from last season!

They let him play tennis once after they saw his "consistency is everything" advertisement.

Maybe 4 or 5 if he wants to get more of a workout in.
