Biggest underachiever, Malisse or Haas?

Both extremely talented, both mental head cases, both have had troubles with injuries, both underachieved.

I'm going with the X-man because Haas at least achieved some solid stuff in the distant past. The X-man never won anything truly important which is still surprising to me given the capacities he had. Oh well... Talent ain't everything, I guess.

Re: Biggest underachiever, Malisse or Haas?

one interesting bit about tommy is that he lost 8 of his first 9 ATP finals but then went on to win 11 of his last 12

this is totally unrelated but i just felt like posting it anyway

Re: Biggest underachiever, Malisse or Haas?

Malisse hasn't achieved anywhere near as much as Haas and I'd still say Haas is a bigger underachiever. Malisse had too many deficiencies beside his poor mental.

Malisse

Haas, quite easily, people says Malisse is talented, but i can't see that talent, sorry.
If you are *that* talented, you should take care of a tennager like Raonic easily.

Re: Biggest underachiever, Malisse or Haas?

Malisse, because Haas actually had moments when he was healthy. With that said, Haas was more capable of doing better than he did than Malisse was with his talent, so it depends on perspective.

X-Man has always been overrated. Backhand isn't amazing, has great timing but not overwhelming power, and had always struggled with shot selection.

Re: Biggest underachiever, Malisse or Haas?

Malisse by miles.

I thought he was going to spend plenty of time in the top 10 after Wimbledon 2002, but the mental side of his game was just mega weak

His record in ATP finals says it all.

yup. i think haas was more talented in any case but the x-man should have achieved a lot more than he did, imo.
