Who else thinks that Andy Roddick should just retire?

He has a had a good career, reaching number 1, winning a slam, losing in 4 other slam finals, and winning 29 titles.

The fact is though, that he just can't hurt the top players. He can get outhit by almost everyone in the top 30, and most of the time, it's only his serve that gets him through matches. He has been simply outplayed by Tipsarevic and Wawrinka in consecutive slams. If such decent, but not great players can so thoroughly beat him, what chance does he have against better players like Djokovic, Soderling and Murray (for some reason he can beat Berdych though), let alone Nadal and Federer?

ANDRE AGASSI, MONICA SELES, JENNIFER CAPRIATI

Lleyton Hewitt, Lindsay Davenport

Pat Rafter, Mark Phillippoussis, Rafael Nadal, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Sjeng Schalken, Chris Guccione. Martina Hingis, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, Alicia Molik, Mary Pierce, Amanda Coetzer, Anna Kournikova.

No.

He's the funniest man on the ATP tour (in terms of telling jokes and making apt remarks) so he should stay

The only thing that could revive Roddick's career is if ITF made all slams played on grass.

No, his suicide net rushing is hilarious to watch.

If there were any other decent American men playing, he might consider it.

I sometimes wonder Andy is simply waiting for some other American player to pick up the standard -- it sure does not look like its going to come from Fish, Querrey or Isner.

I could quite happily watch him get slaughtered by superior players for a while yet ^^

Stop pushing, if that doesn't work, retire.

Your facts are correct - your conclusion is not. Andy had an amazing run in '03, true enough. Since then he's been the same old Andy year-in, year-out. He's capable of outstanding performances at times. He's also capable of making JANKO TIPSAREVIC..... I repeat.... JANKO TIPSAREVIC, look like a tennis god. There's no making your peace with Andy Roddick. He is simply an infuriating player to watch. I don't consider that to be anything new for him and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him make a deep run at Wimbledon this year. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him lose to some guy I never heard of in the 3rd round. That's just Andy Roddick.

Lleyton Hewitt, otoh, he should just retire.

I hope not. But it is sad to see him play like this...............

Anyway, time for me to watch some matches when Roddick could hit a winner from the baseline.

hopefully he'll be out soon. I'd rather see Melzer, Wawrinka and Cilic in the top 10 than pusherduck. Hopefully Verdasco gets booted out too.

Re: Who else thinks that Andy Roddick should just retire?

No he shouldn't. He is still number 8 in the world and has been in the top 10 for nine years. I bet the same question was asked after R2 exit US Open? He got to two masters finals last year that's still a big achievement. This is only a viable discussion once he starts SERIOUSLY dropping down the rankings.

Gilles Simon
Dimitrov • Mahut • Paire • Hewitt • Raonic • Berdych • Gulbis • Murray

Thanks for the memories... Andy Roddick.

He won't be around forever, but as long as he keeps doing as well as he has been he will be int he top 10. I predict this is his last year in the top 10 though. Once he leaves the top 20 he will retire.

Re: Who else thinks that Andy Roddick should just retire?

He just reached 4th round and he should retire? Correct me if I'm wrong but who is the best american player for last 5 years. Today's performance was awful but it means nothing.BTW this type of useless treads have no place in the middle of GS event.

PostWimby 2010 press conference.
Q. Do you feel you can get back to a position of domination in tennis?
ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I do think that. That's why I'm here.
