AO R3: (ATP 2) Federer vs (ATP 45) Malisse

Interesting match up between Olderer and the X-man. Well actually, Malisse happens to be a few months older than Olderer himself but what gives...

Both were regarded as extremely talented in their youths but obvs Federer has been the one who has made the most of it. h2h is 7-1 for the Swiss but their first 7 encounters were BEFORE 2003. The eight and last encounter was in Toronto 2006 when Fed was in ninja-mode and the score was close, Federer won 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-3.

Anyhow, this could be tricky. The Belgian GOAT totally trashed Montañes in R2 so i guess he must be playing well. Still, I think Olderer takes this in 4.

Whether Fed drops a set depends on which Malisse shows up.

Federer in 5 sets. Malisse will come prepared. I wouldn't be surprised if Malisse lost in 4, given that he hasn't had much experience against the latest Federer. 2006 is a long time.

Hopefully Malisse makes a match of it.

Fed ought to cruise to the SF.

Re: AO R3: (ATP 2) Federer vs (ATP 45) Malisse

anyone else feel this is fed's most dangerous opponent from now until the semis? if good xavier shows up, who knows what could happen, whereas the other guys in this quarter are just cannon fodder

novak djokovic - my all time favorite!
12 GS and counting, and as always, leaving bad tastes in tracy austin's mouth

italian guys - forza azzurri, especially seppi and bolelli

new generation: impress me! looking for a new 2nd favorite

all time favorites: lleyton hewitt, juan carlos ferrero, michael chang and patrick rafter

NEVER say "i don't care who wins, i just want good tennis" you BETTER pick a side

Re: AO R3: (ATP 2) Federer vs (ATP 45) Malisse

I`ve seen Malisse play a lot in the past.He can play well,is certainly a better server then Simon but his consistency is his big problem. He can get upset really easily if things don`t go his way and loose a match in a blowout but on the other hand he can also play really well and make it a tough match.I don`t think that Malisse can win the big points though if the match is tight.
So the match can have any number of sets but Federer winning
