Was Mahut Isner Wimbledon 2010 a mug fest in terms of tennis quality?

I cant really be assed watching the whole match, I can imagine it was just easy service holds for the last set but what was the general quality of the tennis like over the 5 sets?

They were calling it the greatest tennis match ever on TV the other day.

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

No.

Obviously the returning wasn't exactly the best you'll ever see but the two were flawless behind the serve, blasting winners from the baseline and tricky low mid-court balls even on high pressure points.

Both players had countless opportunities to get tight and give the match away but they both kept going for it and they both kept making it.

Not a mugfest, no, but way below the quality of "the greatest match of all time".

Yes. Yes it was. Nevertheless riveting in a car crash sort of way.

I say yes. The rallies weren't hideous, but the returning was like 2 Karlovics. GOAT match is Federer-Nadal Wb 08, Nadal-Verdasco AO 09, Federer-Safin AO 05, or, my pick as an overlooked contender, Roddick-Kohlschreiber AO...08?

The same kind of argument can be used as for a recent debate about Karlovic's game.

This match showcased a different side to tennis quality, and Henry C provides a perfect description of it.
