It was interesting match, 2 hours 48 minutes.

Bellucci played well. The second set he served for the match... Third set was 0-*3 for Russell...

Never ever give up

Made it harder than it should be, but really liked the way he fought back to win this one. Also it was amazing to see Larri pumped coaching a Brazilian at the big tournaments again. Hope this partnership works.

at Bellucci letting that ball go at 30-40 in the last game.

Typical Russell..

"I did not play my best tennis, no? And..that is what enable him to win..to win this match no? "

Laughable stuff, particularly towards the end.

He let a ball clearly on the line simply go and then almost celebrated.

I only watched the last two games but... did he play that boring defensive style the whole match? The last game was painstakingly boring. He was almost playing like Nadull out there.

Yes, he always moonball that forehand knowing he can flatten it sometimes. Today things almost slipped away just because of boring defensive tactics, but I would say mostly a conservative tactical display when he should try to attack a bit more, I guess.

He did, it was awful at times. He should be the guy attacking against Russell, it would have been easier I guess. Well, it's up to him and Larri to decide the strategy, glad it resulted in a win. But it was strange to see.

I think he played well on the first set. Well, when I left home it was 6-4 3-1* and looked like routine . conservative tactics can screw you up, specially when they let you just to have one break ahead usually...
Russel is not good enough, if he cannot beat this bizarre Bellucci, who else could he beat in a hard court?

Well I thought Larri would make Bellucci attack more...

Anyway, let's see if he picks up his game in the next match.

Was hoping Bellucci would win this more easily. He still loses his game for stretches, but at least he was able to fight back in the third.

Re: Auckland R1: Bellucci def. Russell: 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-5

Russell had game point(s) in the first six games of the third set. Could and should have put it away. Bellucci should of course have done the same thing in the second. Horrible line calls throughout the match, Bellucci had at least five against in the second/start of the third. Then Russell had 2-3 important ones that turned the match again. The funniest ones were at 30-30 in the final game. First Russell is robbed of an obvious ace, and looses the point, meaning MP Bellucci. On the following point Russell hits a forehand wide, but it gets called in!

Both guys played aggresive and well when it seemed they had lost.
