Thanks for the update on Amir. WTT works out well for him.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Don't begrudge him the money, but the WTT seems increasingly like a silly exhibition series. Venus vs Hingis, McEnroe vs current players....

Nothing wrong with exhibitons, but when financial concerns mean players _prefer_ them to tour matches?

WTT is exho stuff, but Amir isn't good enough on clay to play for a Bundesliga top division side.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Amir loses to Robert Farah 6:7(2) 3:6 at Aptos CH. Which got me thinking...

career record after losing 1st set tiebreak (all levels):

2-20

17 times he lost the second set.

Amir peaking for Davis Cup. Another DC legend in the making?

beats Ito 6:3 6:2 6:4 and levels tie at 1:1

GOAT onehander, especially DTL. Very good serve and volleys. Forehand needs more snap, but it was solid and enough for Ito. Saving breakpoints like a madman.

Now bring that form to the tour.

That's the problem though, I see him playing DC and every time I wonder how the hell he isn't in the top 100.

After watching the Davis Cup match against Ito, I have several things to say:

He has nearly 0 talent. Sad, but true. The shotmaking ability isnt that good, not enough consistency to be a good player, doesnt have a good backhand. Ito however, is atrocious.

The good thing which can be said about Amir is that he has a deceptively excellent serve. He does place it quite well all over the box, I would actually say that his serve might be in the top 10 current serves on the ATP tour. He has a much better serve than most top 100 players.

Still, good win for him!

I watched him against Bautista in USO Q (lost 6-7 6-7) and his bh was magnificent. Too bad the fh is not up to scratch.

His nerves are pretty French too.

On a side note, its hilarious how much tennis is an under-developed sport in Israel, and I know, because I live here. Ill give you an example: I live in a city with 200,000 people, and there are only 4(!) tennis courts in the whole city. Its terrible, because everyone here is a Football fanatic. The players who start to play tennis cant break into the top echelon because of not only economic issues, but because of the long travel times and the inability to travel far. There are only about 8-10 futures in Israel, and unless you win most of those, you wont even save for a ticket. Rough times...

That's a bit harsh. There are worse shotmakers than him in the top 100. Forehand needs a bit of work, agreed, but still harsh. What he lacks I think is a killer instinct. He's way too sweet and cuddly and respectful to everyone. And he seems to be a team player, he needs people to create atmosphere for him, when he's alone on the otur he lacks something.

The only assessment I trust in your post is the one about Ito.

Weintraub a top 10 serve? Lol...And what's wrong with his backhand?
