Excelent serve, very good volley.
That perfect FH is coming back, so good serve-return.
I hope he can stay in that shape.
Ah, appeal moderation? Wanna know what appeal moderation did to me?
LOOK AT ME!
LOOK AT ME, BOY! THESE ARE THE SCARS OF APPEAL MODERATION!
Take a good long stare, you know you want to.
You're not even man enough to look at my face.
Appeal moderation isn't pretty, you have to watch your friends go to dust.
Appeal moderation is always hungry for your soul and sweet emotions.
First and once godly-worhispped appeal moderator.
Oh MY Gosh. Actually watched the 2nd set. Hidalgo was Awful with the capital 'A'. His points mostly were: net , net , out , net , out , out , out. What's he doing in the top 80 with this game? Tsonga was laid back, easy victory.
Can't read anything into this. Hidalgo was using his ranking to take a holiday in Doha. he hasn't won an ATP hardcourt match in 4 years and that was only because he drew a local who was ranked outside the top 1000 in this event in 07.
Still, Jo did what he had to. Played a relatively low risk game, worked on some serves you don't see all that often and got the job done quickly.
Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo is an intruiging player. A complete nobody who near the age of 30 worked himself up to be a competitive claycourter (2006-2007), beating Ferrer at RG, leading Federer 5-1 in the final set in Masters Series tournament.
His playing style is also of interest, he is the most technically pure moonballer on the tour
miles ahead of Nadal in esthetic terms, complete with a never-failing trademark grunt. A legend.
