was 2010 a bad tennis year?

atp did awhile ago a list of the top 5 best matches of 2010...and 3 of them came on the list as of the 2 last tournaments of the year-WTF and paris 1000. also isner and mahuts match at wimbly was in the top. but in my point of view- that match only got a place up there cus it was a record breaker.

so with that said what really happend with all the matches between 1 january-USO 2010? was there no really good matches? i mean isner mahut wasent that entertaining really...but what do u think? was there any memorable matches between brisbane 250 and USO 2010?

We have a thread on this already.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: was 2010 a bad tennis year?

Poor year, particularly the 2nd half was awful. Berdy, Verdasco, Tsonga, Cilic, Ljubo, Querrey, Davy, Gulbis, Ferrero - all awol either from form or injury (in Cilic's case pretty much the entire year after Australia). In the case of Berdy/Verdy/Cilic form was utterly catastrophic, they could barely win a match at times.

At the top Djokovic was crap until about the US, ditto Monfils. Murray only appeared at Australia, Canada and Shanghai, and sporadically at Wimbledon and WTF, might as well have just gone on holiday the rest. DelPot of course missed the entire year (he wasn't even fit in Australia).

This is all quite a major letdown when you consider what appeared to be on the horizon in January: the usual top4, DelPot making a top5, and Davydenko on career best form. Soderling had kept his level after Roland Garros 2009. Cilic had his Aus Open breakthrough. Seemed like this could be a legendary year, instead the exact opposite happened.

Was 2010 a "bad" tennis year?

Really? I'd say exactly the opposite. For me the 1st half of the year was atrocious (bar Australia) and things got better somewhat from Wimbledon onwards.

Only a bad year for Fed Fans

Personally this was the best year in the history of tennis.

The second best was when Nadal beat Federer to win the greatest match of all time.

Re: was 2010 a bad tennis year?

It was poor in terms of nothing out of the ordinary. The two best players won everything.

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.
