Paris R2: Gulbis def Youzhny 6-4 3-0 ret.

What kind of injury does Youzhny have? Just watched the other match and missed the retirement.
Aja, Youzhny's chances to go to London ended here of course.

Re: Paris R2: Gulbis def Youzhny 6-4 3-0 ret.

Youzhny has a back injury. Bizarrely Ernests gets through to the 3rd round with 2 retirements But it's not unique,or completely unexpected to me...its the end of the season, many players are exhausted or carrying injuries.

I doubted Youzhny would be fully fit,and he had added pressure of trying to qualify for London, proving too much for the Russian. Youzhny got sick and couldn't play Moscow, pulled out of Valencia injured...understandably under prepared.

Cheering for Nole Gilles Tomas Domi Stan Roger Sascha Struffi
Jamie Murray No 1 - AO Doubles Champ 2016 - congrats!
Thanks for the memories Juan Carlos

Youzhny had back issues, resulting the back-to-back wins for Ernests Gulbis by two retirements.

Still shining: Roger Federer / Andy Murray / Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Stars of Tomorrow: Nick Kyrgios / Kyle Edmund / Borna Coric / Francis Tiafoe

Re: Paris R2: Gulbis def Youzhny 6-4 3-0 ret.

Gulbis ratio: W/UE: 13/7 and 17/9 which is great and lot of aces as well.
He kept his concentration and broke 6/9.
Youzhny made the final in St-Petersbourg a week ago but retired from Valencia last week.

After badluck on draws lately, Gulbis deserved this win.
(Federer have encounterd 2 retirements during a Master last summer, so luck could happen to anyone.)

Misha could of easily played a few more games and played the sportsman.

he does this too often, always retires for small reasons.

Agree, and more so that Gulbis and Youzhny practiced together sometimes, Gulbis speaks Russian as well,
He was tired but it would have been nice to end the match to give Gulbis a real win.

gulbis's last 2 opponents may have retired but, be honest if they had tried to play one they would have lost anyway

Playing in St. Petersburg was a play of the year . Even ahead of Veradsco's decision to play in Nice . Well done General
