Paris Q R2: [1]Jarkko "finnish machine" Nieminen destroys Marc Gicquel 6-1 6-2

Just too good

Edit: it was 6-2 6-1 not 6-1 6-2 but it doesn't matter

Flying Finn. Fantastic, Fiery, Full of Fierce Flair. I'm overwhelmed with ways to describe him at the moment.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Here's a tip. Don't regret nothin'. You ain't got the time. Before you know it, you'll be 60 something years old giving free advice to some cheapskate runt... Then going home and regretting it.

Had trouble with Gabashvili in the first round but this was great .

Hope Jarkko gets a good draw. Despite his success on GS level, he hasn't really made an impact at the Masters level.

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

I'm surprised by the scoreline! Gicquel played really well against Kamke yesterday and while Nieminen was also very strong against Gabashvili, he called the trainer about his left arm at 5-2 in the third and spun his serves in while serving for the match. Guess his injury wasn't as serious as it seemed

Fuck you and fuck off, Marco. How in the world can you lose this badly and in France? 3 games on indoor hard? You've slipped. But the H2H I guess shows you just can't play against Shark. I'm so embarrassed for Marc, and very disappointed. Now looks like qualifying for Australia. Too bad he got such a difficult qualifying draw.

^^^

The main problem for Gicquel is his age and movement. He could still be good enough for the lowest end of top 100, but the match-up with Nieminen was always going to be difficult for him. Jarkko gets a lot of balls back, and constructs the rallies well to take players like Marc out of their comfort zone early.

This Jarkko will soon be top 20 again if he continues like this. Legend.

Totally agree with your post. I respect Gicquel but Nieminen`s tennis is above of this challenger guys.
