Re: Youzhny Withdraws From Valencia!

So Cuevas was set to play Youzhny, whose withdrawal sees him replaced by Ramos-Vinolas...who was Cuevas' opponent in the final round of qualifying!

Re: Youzhny Withdraws From Valencia!

Makes relatively little difference. He would have had to make the finals here to add any real points, and even if he won the tournament would probably need to go reasonably deep next week as well. Given he's not fit, no chance of that.

This way he has a week off, and can give it all in Paris. Needs a final there though.

Re: Youzhny Withdraws From Valencia!

yeah, it's over for him, even making Paris final wouldn't be enough. he should still be top 10 by the end of the year, with Melzer & Tsonga retirements. AMong his followers, only Cilic and Mugfils are still playing this week; the former needs to win Basel and to reach Paris final to threaten Youzhny and the last is 1000 pts away... so Misha can

Berdych is almost qualified, Verdasco, Ferrer and Roddick are struggling for the last 2 spots.

Is Colonel injured?

Re: Youzhny Withdraws From Valencia!

See here...
RACE to the 2010 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals

Paris final would put him on 3510, ahead of Ferrer and Roddick.

Ferrer can add points by making the final this week (+120) or winning it (+320), and in Paris. Valencia final and Paris R16 puts him ahead of Youz, or winning Valencia alone.

Roddick making qfs this week is +45, and sfs +135 (although he'd need to beat nalby to get there). Basel qfs and Paris qfs puts him past Youz.

Verdasco has less chance. He could get to 3600 via valencia semis+paris semis, or 3540 via valencia final and paris qf, or 3600 by paris semi and qf or worse in valencia.

Surely Berdych has it locked up, though it has looked that way for months and he is doing his very best to blow it...

That's the Berdych we all know and love

Realistically Berdych should secure his place right here in Basel, he'll take whatever result he achieves and with the draw he has he shouldn't lose before the SF even if he only plays decent tennis.

the top 6 were pretty much qualified after the us open ...Verdasco can still finish ahead of Berdych but we all know it won't happen.
