Re: Nadal El Pais Interview - admits to being coached during final??

Oh my gosh. Things about to get crazy up in this thread.

The way I look at it, it's cheating, so yeah, he basically admitted to cheating. Should be fined for that. But if anyone jumps in and says "take the title away." Please. One game doesn't decide the outcome of a 4 set match.

Also, unfortunately, it's not as if Rafa is the only player who has done this. Most players, in one way or another, have used the coaching box as more than just motivation. So let's not act as if this is unique to one man. ATP and WTA, players look at the coaches for advice. It happens, at least he was honest about it.

Very concerning...

Nothing will happen of course. But this is not good for any Tennis player.

unreliable source.

until proper evidence is found, these are mere made up conspiracy theories.

OK, so then we will have to fine the entire tour. Is it good? Probably not, but it happens, it always has happened, and it's largely allowed to happen. Plus, let's not make this as he cheated through the event, or cheated through the match. He was nervous, head was spinning, he looked to his box. Cheating? Yes. But is it something that you can understand why he would do? Yeah, I can.

The way I see it, either allow coaching or do not allow the coaches to be right there for the players to see. Because as it is now, there is coaching. And it's not regulated, even though it's supposedly against the rules. Can't have the cake and eat it too, either do one or do the other.

I doubt it affected the outcome of the match, & I actually vaguely respect him for admitting it. Obviously it's not ideal though.

Again. This is not about bashing Nadal. But which other player does get warned so often? Please tell

Of course, you respect him. I mean this is what our society has come to. Cheaters admit they cheat and then we appreciate their honesty? Seriously now?

What? To Djokovic, not Fed. Or even better, to Youhzny.

This is not like breaking the 25 seconds between points rule, this really does give a tactical advantage. I think at least Nadal should be fined.

Djokovic should hire a lawyer and make a legal case out of this. It would be a funny headline :
"Djokovic finally wins The US Open. In court!".

Come on, he's hardly the only culprit. There are many things I dislike about Nadal, and a few things I like, but if he'd carried on being disingenuous, you would have been the first to criticise.

Re: Nadal El Pais Interview - admits to being coached during final??

if he did get coaching atleast he is honest.

even when he was warned at wimbledon, he said during the press conference that toni sometimes talks too much but on that occasion toni didnt give him coaching.
