Rafa - Close to winning every important tennis title?

Not sure if there's another thread on this already but I couldnt find anything on it so here goes.

If Rafa wins the WTF at the end of the year will that mean he will have won everything important in tennis?

He's now won all 4 GS's, the Olympics and numerous Masters events. Ignoring events of lesser value than Masters, if Rafa wins WTF this year does that make him the first person to have basically won everything? Or does he still have some Masters titles he hasnt won yet? Admittedly I havent properly researched his Masters wins.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

Re: Rafa - Close to winning every important tennis title?

Agassi has won the 4 GS, Olympic Gold and WTF, so Rafa wouldn't be the first in case he won the WTF. Agassi also won many Masters, I think 6 or 7...

Ah, how could I have forgotten Agassi. I'm sure even he hasnt won all Masters though, so if Rafa wins all Masters - 1000's (which I'm guessing he hasnt yet) he'd be the first in the open era to achieve the feat. If so, first of many people in the future I hope.

Re: Rafa - Close to winning every important tennis title?

Agassi has won 7/9 Masters: Indian Wells, Miami, Rome, Toronto, Cincy, Madrid, Paris.

Rafa has won 6/9 (6/10 if you include Shanghai): Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Rome, Hamburg, Toronto, Madrid.

You should make a check list of important tennis title. It'd be easier to see how close he is to winning them all.

He still needs to win Miami, Cincinnati, Shanghai, Paris, and WTF.

Agassi & Nadal have also both won the Davis Cup.

The WTF is the only one of those that actually matters.

Also Nadal had won Madrid before Shanghai replaced it. It's not fair to say he needs to win it again.

True, but I feel since it is in an entirely new location, it is a new tournament

Shanghai is an outdoors tournament and it didn't replace Madrid. Madrid was moved back on the calendar and had a surface change. It's an entirely different tournament because the surfaces are not comparable and the locations are different (The weather isn't comparable and no home crowd support at Shanghai).
