Why do people say Spanish players "bend over" for Nadal?

I didn't see any bending over at all in the recent years. Ferrer beat Nadal in USO last time they played. Lopez beat Nadal in Queens. Verdasco took Nadal to massive 5 sets in AO and nearly ended up costing him that slam Almagro took him to TWO tie breaks in RG... it goes on

Did it occur to some people Nadal is simply better and mentally stronger than all of them? When the likes of Nando simply choke against other opponents, nobody pays attention, but when it's against Nadal it's "bending Over"

Let's not dicount the fact that Nando was tired during this match, thus the many unforced errors. Nadal played conservatively and it payed off.

Re: Why do people say Spanish players "bend over" for Nadal?

Rafa beat Feli fair and square, Lopez was never in the match
Mugro had MP against him in Paris and he proceeded to choke with UEs (not really Rafa's super mega winners he produces sometimes)
Nando? come on, getting broken by 2 DF? and then game completely falling apart? that is bending over, he didn't really try after that and it wasn't because Rafa started playing better (which he did) but because he just gave up mentally and got on his knees
He would probably not have won the match, but at least he would have won that set and make things interesting, same as Robin did yesterday against Roger (though the Swede actually beat the Swiss in RG)
Pics never chokes, but he is getting outplayed by Rafa, specially because his serve is not that good

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

Nadal had 234234234 break points before that.. i guess Verdasco didn't bend over those times.

Re: Why do people say Spanish players "bend over" for Nadal?

Lets see stats. The same players that suposedly bend over Rafa, apparently do the same vs Federer, as an example.

Since 2007, results of Rafa vs other spanish players in the top 50 (Verdasco, Ferrer, Almagro, Montanes, Ferrero, Lopez and Robredo) 31-4. Results of Federer same period same players: 21-1.

This is not just the better player wins? I don't see anyone questioning why spanish players bend over Roger.

hola, welcome to MTF

how many times have those players been ahead when playing Roger and lose the lead?

people like Pics have beaten Rafa, right now Rafa is thrice the player Pics is, but the Valencian managed to defeat him by mental strenght and playing on Rafa's weaknesses of the moment

Nando has the game to outplay Rafa (in hard at least) but he's not mentally strong enough to keep a lead when he has, he chokes horrendously with DF more times than not

Feli can beat Rafa in fast grass but it's no match when it comes to best of 5

Rafael "The Matador of Spin" Nadal
Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer
Del Potro, Ferrer, Haas, Zeballos

That's not to mention Wawrinka who is the biggest pigeon in the universe against Federer

If there were more Swiss players, it would be so obvious how badly they worship the GOAT wannabe and lose matches to him on purpose

Overcompensating, you're not fooling anyone.

It's ok to be curious and a little scared.

I really don't know what you are going on about, but this mysterious new poster that started this thread that just happened to find this site recently asked about bending over, not me.

Now can you and your 47 other names on here stop stalking me. I am flattered by your advances, but I am currently unavailable in the way you would like.

Thanks.
