US Open R1: Mello def. Phau 6-4 7-5 4-6 7-6(4)

Disaster has struck at the US Open, 2010 edition.

Sadly, I knew this atrocious result would come to play. Very, very dejecting. Nothing else to say, really.

Just not good enough to compete at slams, not smart, no mental strength and a rubbish serve.

Highly expected, surprise Phau even took a set.

Nice choking by Mello BTW.

Disgusting to see that Bjorn cannot even exist in these matches.

It is an expected result, but it's one of my main 4 or 5 favorites against one of the players I like the least, in fact one of the top 2 or 3 players I like the least. So I definitely was hoping Bjorn could pull of a surprise and finally get a win in a major. You are a fan of Bjorn, you must be frustrated by his never-ending run of poor results.

Bjorn is defending over 100 points through the end of the year. His bad results the past 2-3 months could come back to cost him a top 100 ranking. Hopefully he will find some better form, before it's too late.

No game, he's inside the Top 100 because he wins challengers in South America against nobodies, then sneaks a GS win against a mug like today, these are my reasons.

I know Mello personally, and his coach. He comes from a not important city in Brazilian tennis history and despite being powerless he has good tactic and technic display. I mean, the guy has won 10 challengers and more than 1 million on prizes, despite being a journeyman he must be competent for that,

what makes me mad is what Söderling is doing today, no mentality at all.

But it doesn't bother you that the player in your avatar is the same way?
