New Haven QF: Baghdatis vs Stakhovsky 7-5 1-6 6-7(4)

Before match I hoped that more diligent and appreciably more motivated player will defeat more talented and less motivated one And it does! BTW, my wife says the win comes to more confident man! However, most people guess Bag saves energy for US Open
The biggest win for Stakho!!!

5:6 (0-30) in the third...

I don't know how Stakhovsky managed to win that one against Fit-datis, Stak was dead tired like a horse after a Western movie

I am shocked. And sad for organizers.

"oooh a big tennis event. is federer playing?"
"who needs federer? we got fucking sergei stakhovsky"

Ridiculous post. First, Fed plays ONLY GSs and Masters. Second, New Haven is NOT a big tennis event. It's not even a town, it's a fucking village!

He played this event to keep his word after they gave him a WC last year and it's good that he lost because his USO draw is not bad and he can get far if he gets some rest.

I remember similar words from local fans in Zagreb-2008 and StPetersburg-2009. At that time fans expected for wins of home heroes Karlovic and Ljubicic in Zagreb and Safin in StPetersburg However the tournaments were closed by Sergiy's wins! And direct wins above mentioned players. Stakho is a man of his mood and sometimes he makes me happy

Probably just as well that Bags lost. He's had a busy summer and he needs to rest up for the U.S. Open.

Re: New Haven QF: Baghdatis vs Stakhovsky 7-5 1-6 6-7(4)

Good win for Sergiy but I think he will lose his first semi vs. De Bakker. Slow courts don't suit him that much.

And change the thread title, it looks like Baghdatis won.

LIKE: Stepanek, Youzhny, Stakhovsky, Raonic, Pouille || HATE: Nadal, Almagro, Monfils, Troicki, Simon, Tipsarevic
