USO R1: Paul-Henri Mathieu - Lleyton Hewitt

Who's taking this one:

Paolo easy in three I would dare to say

I can actually see PHM winning this. Depends on his form.

Re: USO R1: Paul-Henri Mathieu - Lleyton Hewitt

To be honest i haven`t seen Hewitt play since Wimbledon.I heard he lost a tight match against Soderling in the last tourney but haven`t seen him play.
Could go either way but in a 5 set match i would go with Hewitt

Re: USO R1: Paul-Henri Mathieu - Lleyton Hewitt

I actually think this could go to 5 sets. Paulo is picking up his form a bit and Hewitt's preperation has been poor. If Hewitt is fit enough I fancy him for the win though.

If paul shows up he will win, more weapons.

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

Which is why Hewitt leads the head to head 3-0, winning 7 sets out of 8. Granted the most recent of those meetings was in 2008, but I- perhaps wrongly- from you post got the impression that you felt if both players played their best then PHM would win. Apologies if I read too much into that

No, was just implying if paul actually comes and plays tennis he will beat leyton in his current state.

I agree, especially if it's the same Hewitt we saw in Washington and Cincinnati. If Hewitt plays as he did against Soderling I'd still fancy him though.
