Re: Maximo Gonzalez upsets Zeballos 6-3 6-4

Not a big surprise. Machi can play good tennis on hard court and Zeballos is horribly overranked and hasn't been playing well. Congrats to Machi on the victory. Hopefully he gets his ranking back to where it belongs.

I like Gonzalez. He has a great game. he seems like a nice guy. And, most importantly, he has the coolest name ever. If I heard that name, I would think "Pro athlete"

Zeballos has absolutely no weapons, very poor timing on HC due to his too long and too slow swings. Also no ability to adapt to HC apparently.

Re: Maximo Gonzalez upsets Zeballos 6-3 6-4

Zeballos was lucky to get a set off of Kohls in Cincy before he lost in the first round. The guy has a poor serve. Squats with his heels togeather and knees wide apart. Looks real ugly and ineffective.

Zeballos has a very............awkward looking game, movement and disposition in general. It's actually probably one of his strengths. But he's not an ATP regular talent.

Maximo Gonzalez is an amazing name, I agree. Sounds like he gets lots of girls, lives a fast life and has lots of money. Sounds cool

Zeballos can be dangerous when he's hot the serve looks awkward but can be really effective when he's hitting it. Seems to be having a david nalbandian season though, saving his best for davis cup having played big rolls in both of their underdog wins.

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

David Nalbandian

I had to Google him and look at a photo.

This man needs Fabio-esque photo shoots and a fragrance (or condom) named after him, haha. It's an amazing name...

Maximo.

This.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

That's very true about his serve, his awkwardness helps him with it. He can get surprising pace and good direction with it from a serve position/angle that can confuse even us watching it, so just think about the players going against him. He can hit all serves with the same motion/ball toss, which is a plus. Also the left handed factor helps him. He's also got some variety and two decent ground strokes. With all of that said, nothing he does it at a consistent enough level or forceful enough regularly against ATP competition. He also doesn't move well enough or adapt when he isn't in offensive positions.

He has been big for Davis Cup, though, he's a very good doubles player.

Re: Maximo Gonzalez upsets Zeballos 6-3 6-4

Okay, this must be his worst loss of the season (and he has had quite a lot of bad ones). Against freaking Maximo Gonzalez on his first HC-match, and then with this scoreline?

He says him himself that he is better on HC, gave Baghdatis and Kohli a tough time lately and now this?! My god...

Bad loss for Zeballos who should be the better player on hard, but who, I agree with flyboy, is overranked.

Zeballos needs to be at place 90/100 and not 50/60, Good win for Gonzalez if he plays well he can beat this kind of players.
