Post Cincinnati R1: David Ferrer (10) def. Alexandr Dolgopolov 3-6 6-3 6-4

This was a great match.
Ferrer fought through, and Dolgo showed why he will be in the top 20 sometime next year.
Huge forehand and great talent.

Congrats David

Faray showed good fight because Dolgopolov was looking very good the first set.

Alex needs to learn when to slow down just a bit...he has those random games where everything will just spiral downwards and before you blink it's 0-40. I'm sure he'll figure this out and soon be winning matches like this one and last weeks against Berdych

Should have broken in the last game, bad call from the linesperson and no hawkeye Hopefully Dolgo doesn't take it too hard, he has a great future

Dolgo the usual wildly unpredictable fireball stuff. Needs a little more hard court experience to really compete at this level though - the court was just a bit too fast for him today, resulted in a huge number of timing errors.

great match, maybe too many errors from Ferrer, but he showed his usual consistancy and mental strenght.. I hope Dolgo takes these long matches as trainings, he never played with top players, and I hope he'll improves his game in the next 3-4 months

oh well, I hope at least that Dolgo trains his FUCKING awful return on first and second serves

As people predicted, Ferrer's superior consistency winning it for him in the end but still an entertaining battle.

59 UEs for Dolgo He just goes for absolutely every shot. It'll be fantastic when he learns to tone it down slightly alongside that enthusiasm....

That was a great match to watch, very entertaining stuff. Great fightback from Ferru after being a set and a break down but we are used to that by now. In the end it was a good win for David over what is becoming a very good, talented player innDolgopolov. Just hope Ferru keeps it going in the next round!!!!!!!!!

I really like this kid, especially his attitude and think he's gonna have a great future ahead of him. I too can see him in the top twenty before too long...............

It certainly was . You expect him to say it right when he says "Dah-veed" and then he pulls a Brad Gilbert and goes "Far-aaayyyyyy"

He'll never be accused of being a pusher; he's the anti-Murray (at least anti-Murray pre Toronto). Like the guy's enuthsiasm and seems to be really enjoying himself on the court - hope time on the tour doesn't turn him into an old sour puss like Ferrer.

Result as expected, Ferrer too consistent but will be interesting to see Dolgo after a few more years of experience.

Re: Cincinnati R1: David Ferrer (10) def. Alexandr Dolgopolov 3-6 6-3 6-4

David had too much consistency and willpower to lose this match, but as has been said, Dolgo was very impressive. He goes for his shots, that's for sure. Also has a decent net game, decent slice backhand, decent mover, and of course the really powerful and fast shots and serve. He's going to be really good once he learns to become a better match player.

As for David, just proving once more how much heart he has. Great win for him. He got more aggressive after breaking back in the second set, and it payed off for him.

I was there, it was a great match to watch Olek/Alek/Sasha/whatever he's going by now was really good, going for a lot of shots even though they went out. He's definitely one to watch, his serve is strange but effective and once he learns patience and how to get those out-wide forehands to stay in, he'll be top twenty for sure.
