Toronto QF: Djokovic def. Chardy 6-2 6-3

NID, Chardy had a good week but was out of his depth in here, Nole is simply the better player of the two and got out wanting to win since moment one

The lob worked awesomely against Chardy's atrocious approach shots, Nole hit those over and over and over again, also Chardy shouldn't try to volley low balls, he netted them more times than not

Nole called the trainer being up 3-0 in the second set for some issues with his shoulder area but after that it was back to business

This isn't as if Nole suddenly played at his 2008 level, he didn't need to play his best against this guy and every thing he did looked awesome because Chardy lacked a good gameplan

Good, very good from Novak. Still lacks a little speed on that 1st serve, everything else was fine. Hope that shoulder injury is not serious. It's great that top 4 are in the semis...can't wait for tomorrow. I would love to see Djokovic - Nadal final.

Chardy had 0-30 on almost every Nole service game but he's such a clown he never even got close to breaking. Guy is probably the textbook definition of a basher, has no defense, approach shot, volley, or drop shot skill and has no strategy or guile Good tournament for a player of his class though

Brilliant game, Nole is slowly but surely getting there. Of course Chardy was so inferior to him that it was almost ridiculous. Nonetheless Nole produced some wicked groundstrokes and deftly dropshots, for once his serve was big and he almost completed 100% points on the net. Impeccable. I can't wait for the semis against Federer who was very lucky today to win over Berdych. It was time for a match between these two, the sport is finally balanced again.

Chardy had his chances but couldn't convert. Good to see another Roger-Novak matchup, it wouldn't be the summer hard court season without those two playing once.

Novak hit some spectacular shots at times but yeah, Chardy just couldn't challenge him consistently. Federer next...

Very impressive serving for novak.

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

Thank you, Nole. Now please don't go cower in a corner like a scared little child against Roger. At least make it three sets. I still think he'll lose but three sets is respectable.

I was at this match but left before the conclusion of the first set.

I don't know if it was the cooler weather, or just the opponent, but Novak looked really good, even from where I was sitting.
