Re: Who will win the US Open Series?

What are the current standings? Nalbandian probably leading with the win in Washington 500 ?

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

Re: Who will win the US Open Series?

Usually the guy that arses himself with playing in the most events and wins a few of the smaller events.....and doesn't completely bomb in the masters events (sorry Querrey and Fish).

The other possibility is that one of the big boys wins the two masters events. However, usually the guy that wins the Canadian event mysteriously loses early in Cincy

Nalby seems like he is trying to prove something to himself and others so I'd say he has the best shot of winning this prestigious distinction, wresting it away from the reining champion Mr. Querrey.

Re: Who will win the US Open Series?

How does this thing work? Querrey won a 250 event and didn't win a match in D.C., Nalby won a 500 event. How is it that they get the same amt of pts?

Re: Who will win the US Open Series?

Tough to say. Maybe Nalbandian? I think he should be able to pull off decent results enough to keep him in first. I mean who would have known Querrey would have won last year's series?

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber

Yes, this is screwy. They give out the same number of points for the 250s as the 500s:

http://www.usopenseries.com/Standings/Bonus_Challenge/

2. Olympus US Open Series Bonus Points: The following is the system by which the top three finishers (men’s and women’s) will be determined.

a. Players will earn Bonus Points as follows (for the singles competitions only): At each ATP Masters 1000 and WTA Tour Premier 5 event in the Olympus US Open Series, the winner will earn 100 Points, the finalist will earn 70 Points, the semifinalists will earn 45 Points, the quarterfinalists will earn 25 Points and the round-of-16 will earn 15 Points; at each ATP 500/250 and WTA Tour Premier event, the winner will earn 70 Points, the finalist will earn 45 Points, the semifinalists will earn 25 Points and the quarterfinalists will earn 15 Points. The following chart (on page 2) illustrates the 2010 Olympus US Open Series Bonus Challenge points distribution.

b. At ATP Masters 1000 and WTA Tour Premier 5 events, Bonus Points will be awarded through the round-of-16 (16 players). At ATP 500/250 and WTA Tour Premier events, Bonus Points will be awarded through the quarterfinals (8 players). Players will not receive Bonus Points simply by entering Olympus US Open Series events.
c. A player will only earn Bonus Points in the final round of the tournament(s) to which he/she advances (provided he/she advances to a round in which Bonus Points are awarded).
======================================
Note: Updated standings coming into today. Nalby takes sole possession of first place. This will be updated later today I assume to show 95 pts for David:

Nalby: 2010 Legg Mason ATP 500 Champion (Welcome back!! )
Nole: 2009 Paris Bercy Masters & 2010 Dubai ATP500 Champion
Soderking: 2010 ABN AMRO Rotterdam ATP500 Champion
Baggy: 2010 Sydney Champion
Gulbis: 2010 Delray Beach Champion
Del Pony: 2009 U.S. Open Champion (Please come back! )

Re: Who will win the US Open Series?

Thanks Nolby. What a joke this US open series thing is. No wonder Querrey won last year.
