ATP Tennis now and 2005

Which of this two years you think that tennis was better and more interesting. To mee,2005. was a really great year because we haved many players that can win some big tournaments like Safin,Moya,Gonzalez and Ancic was really good that year,Nadal and Federer played that year incredible tennis like they do now..But now esspecially in GS we all expect same final Nadal vs Federer and tennis lost a bit in interesting matchups.

If I counted well in 2005 ATP had 28 different winners of tournaments.

So what do you people think?

Re: ATP Tennis now and 2005

Neither, but 2005 is when after Bs As the Nadal beatdowns on clay started happening and Nadaltards weren't rampant.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Everything looks better in hindsight. In 2005, people bitched, and now it is a great era

Re: ATP Tennis now and 2005

I think we had 67 tournaments and 31 different winners in 2005.. start of Grand Slam battle of two World greatest players. Rafa and Fed took 22 titles (every bloody third on the Tour)

With best performance in Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events so far this year by Nadal I'm o.k how 2010 turns and its nice to see Federer,Murray and Djokovic on just two titles all togehter

You're right, people do always bitch. But you have to admit that the 2010 pre-Wimbledon has been pretty diabolical. There has been a ridiculous amount of injuries, slumps and poor form.

Things have been looking better since and including Wimbledon though.

Re: ATP Tennis now and 2005

Uh, I may have to go with 2005.. I feel that the top players performed a bit better overall that year.. Of course this year hasn't ended, but so far my vote goes to 2005.

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber

2005 was a great year...lots of amazing Masters Series finals, arguably one of the best matches in a long time in Federer-Safin

Re: ATP Tennis now and 2005

In the year to August I'll probably have to go with 2005 but we should wait until the end of the season before passing judgement. The first week of Wimbledon 2010 was one of the best weeks of tennis that I can remember though.

Check back in threads from that time, everyone said it was a weak era.

Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo
