Toronto R2: Nadal def Wawrinka 7-6(12) 6-3

Stan has a lot of chances in the first set but couldn't capitalize on them

Most of their matches go through the same pattern: First set is tough, Rafa wins and then Stan folds in the second

Rafa is not very sharp but that's expected after not playing for so long

Roger “The Magician of Precision” Federer

Rafa would've lost to a mentally stronger player with that kind of play today.

Too bad he probably won't meet one until the semifinal

Insane first set, the tiebreak was ridiculous. Tons of chances for Wawrinka to close out the first.

Nadal was clutch saving the set points in the first set.

Nadal was shaky at times, my optimism is cautious.

Re: Toronto R2: Nadal def Wawrinka 7-6(12) 6-3

Typical Wawrinka

He had advantage during the rally at 6:5 in the tie-break, two or three positions from which he should've played a winner, too tentative though. What was he thinking, that some choker is on the other side of the net

Stan doesn't always fold in the second

2009 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Miami

2007 ATP Masters Series Paris

2007 Stuttgart
Germany Clay F Nadal, Rafael
6-4, 7-5 Stats
2007 Australian Open
Australia Hard R32 Nadal, Rafael
6-2, 6-2, 6-2 Stats

But he was never gonna do well in the second set after that terrible tiebreaker in the first set. Stan gets tight way too much, he wasn't hitting the ball well on any of his set points

Rusty from Rafa but it was understandable and he should be fine against Kevin

Re: Toronto R2: Nadal def Wawrinka 7-6(12) 6-3

I swear I've seen this match before.

Nadal didn't play all that well, but as usual competed amazingly. Stan, for his part, just could not put away enough balls.

Nadal's draw looking pretty damn easy through the semis.

I don't like Nadal, everyone knows that if they follow my posts.
But I have to admit that he played really good today.
He faced a very strong Wawrinka with so much power and heart.

There were moments in the 1st set (specially during the tiebreak) that there were 2 gladiators in the ring.
Great match. Rafa, I appreciatte your match.

Re: Toronto R2: Nadal def Wawrinka 7-6(12) 6-3

Some of Nadull's moonballs were 30 feet over the net really embarrasing that a player of Wawrinka's talent (and a former top 10 player) is so incompetent he can't deal with moonballs and pushing Nadull hit some hilarious shanks but Wawa was too scared to take any important points.

I'm starting to get a little tired of these constant chokes. Every day the tour becomes more and more like the WTA until I'll find no more joy in what was once the greatest sport

it was a good tough match to begin for him. Some clutch play. Rafa needs to find his range - 36 unforced errors / 23 winners today and still a straight sets win. Any other player would have lost in straights.

Rafito will find his range by the time Murray comes along in the SF...dontchya worry
