Toronto R2 - Berdych def. Stakhovsky 6-2 6-4

Great first set, decent second set. Either way much better than any of his Washington matches.

Shows how bad Gasquet is I guess.

Wow, I though Stakhovsky looked quite sharp yesterday. Must have just been that Gasquet is useless.

well, totally different player Berdych, wasnt giving him many chances to control the rallies
Stak tried to vary in the 2nd set by using the slice which worked only in part

Re: Toronto R2 - Berdych def. Stakhovsky 6-2 6-4

Stakhovsky was something like 50/50 ahead/behind the baseline rally point against Gasquet (52/48? 48/52?), but was nothing like that here. Berdy's power just knocked him back deep so often, meant he couldn't get to the net, and from a metre behind the baseline it's a power slugger's contest, which he's going to lose.

This was expected. Berdych is establishing himself as a stable player, and I'm glad he can continue from the amazing run he had in Wimbledon!

Also supporting known chokers Verdasco, Lopez and Monaco

With all respect to Berdych, I really hope we don't see another Rafa - Berdych finals, it would be a waste of final.

Not really, Berdych has a great chance of beating Rafa on these kind of courts. The last time they played on hard courts was in Indian Wells and Rafa played great and Berdych played decently and still kept the scoreline close. And with this 'new' Berdych there's no reason why he can't beat Nadal on an hard court.
