Toronto R1 : Polansky def. Melzer 7-6 (8) 6-4

Great win for Thornhill's finest.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Fucking pathetic. And hurts his chances at the Finals bad.

Good for the tournament

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

Had 8 set points in the 1st set and Polansky didn't drop his head.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Peter he played very well, and didn't show any of the mental wobbles that he's seemed to struggle with. I thought he might falter when he had BPs against at 7-6 1*-0, but he pulled through

Great playing by Peter.

And below just a tribute to the most clueless poster on MTF.

and really peter is only the canadian number one by rank, he's# 3 at best in terms of talent

Re: Toronto R1 --- Polansky defeats (13) Melzer 7-6(8), 6-4!!

Truly unbelievable. Melzer caught a dream draw to at least make it into the 3rd round at Toronto, as Polansky has only advanced past the 2nd round of a challenger twice this year. Great win and congrats to Peter for winning a Master's Series event in his home province, but Melzer had to have come to North America unprepared...

Melzer made a grand slam semi...

Tim Henman--Gael Monfils--James Blake--Donald Young--Rafael Nadal--Jo-Wilfried Tsonga--John Isner--Janko Tipsarevic--Richard Gasquet.
