Toronto qualies: Jarkko Nieminen def. PHM 6-3 4-6 7-5

PHM was *5-2 up in 3rd. Once broken to love, second time with a double fault

Back to the old ways

Such an unfortunate loss for Paul. Just...........no words. Typical PHM antics.

You got to feel for Mathieu.

This was his match.

[A.U.H.Qureshi] [R.Gasquet] [R.Nadal] [The Indo-Pak Express] [J.W.Tsonga] [P.H.Mathieu] [E.Gulbis] [J.Ward] [G.Monfils] [F.Verdasco] [Samir Iftikhar]

[M.Safin] [T.Henman] [G.Rusedski] [A.Roddick]

When Jarkko was break down in the third. I thought what the heck Jarkko you will lose with this pussy PHM?.

When it was two breaks I said "oh well nobody is perfect"

But after he made comeback and won he really just show ppl from the north are mentally strong, but an other hand PHM show that what he is showing all the time.

Nieminen is the biggest specialist of active players in winning matches like this one.

jarko also had to save 15-40 at 5-5

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

It's hard time for Paulo in 2010 (except Wimbledon). I hope he will win some big matches very soon.

Sure Niemenen is mentally tough, but I think the weak minded choking of Mathieu was clearly at play here. to go from 5-2 and needing just one serve to win, to losing 5-7 is a monumental choke.

Re: Toronto qualies: Jarkko Nieminen def. PHM 6-3 4-6 7-5

Jarkko isn't really mentally tough to me. He's a fighter, and he fights himself; he can will himself to win. But he's not someone who you can rely on to hold it together at the ends of sets and matches. However, PHM is the weakest player mentally in the top 100, so Jarkko knew that if he could just hang in there, he can win it. Jarkko is good at finding ways to win when the cards are stacked against him.

Anyway, PHM would be the first LL so he may get in the MD regardless.
