Monfils chances when he is not injured

We all know that Monfils is all-time injured player but what you think is his chance when he would be fully fit for one whole season??Would he then make a top 10 place..

But first of all ,I think that he must change his game plan..He do a lot of running unneceserally and then he is tired after few rounds of any tournament..Although I am his big fan I personnaly think that if he continues to play this kind of tennis he wont make good progress but if he changes something he could be top 5 for 2-3 years..

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

Unless he changes the way he plays he's going to keep getting injured, so it's hard to really answer this question. If he changes his game, we don't know how successful he'll be consistently. So he's in a bit of a dilemma. He's very talented but still a pretty raw player even at his experience level.

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

why is he mug i dont get it??

i think he is one of the talented players nowadays on tour but he is a dilema like flyboy said,I would say he is something like Safin or Nalbandian (you never know how is he going to play).

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

I don't know about top 5 but he could be a staple in the top 10 if he played smarter.

One of the matches that summed him up for me: his match against Rafa at the USO last year. I thought Gael had a shot, and he took the first set...there were some insane rallies. But by the end of the second half he was huffing and puffing because all the effort he put in, and the last two sets were disappointing. He can show his strength in patches, but he needs to work on his strategy, stamina, and get stronger mentally. He's sort of regressed to me/stayed the same since his RG SF

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

i personally dislike him because he doesn't win all that much and really is only there to be in a circus, more like strocking across the court or making jumps or dancing. tennis courts dont suit his type of antics. not to say he still knows how to hold a raquet and hit ball. but still.

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

ok we all have some thinks about players.personnaly me,I more like players that make tennis interesting and dinamic for audience like Monfils,Tsonga and what was Safin in the past..I know that some people are maybe bitter on that kind of players because as you said they make "circus" but they are showmans..

As soon as someone plays something like ping pong tennis on a relatively fast surface, the guy is doomed.

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

He's a much better athlete and showman than he is a tennis player. Even injury free I just don't see that he has the shots or tennis brain to ever be top 5, maybe top 10 occassionally. Safin or Nalbandian - no way!

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

He plays to put on a show and be an entertainer, more than even trying to win. Only way to explain that fiasco against the Fog. Basically he needs to be aggressive, but in order for that to happen he needs to find a coach who will discipline him into a fit and serious player and who he will listen to. Seems like with Rasheed the 1st part is happening but the 2nd part is not. Finding the right coach is really difficult, and not everyone is a Federer who can play well without one.

"clownfils"......how appropriate.

What is the real game?
It is a game in which the heart is entertained,
the game in which you are entertained.
It is the game you will win.

Re: Monfils chances when he is not injured

The problem is when he say he is the "Real monfils" and the truth is that he's Gianni Mina.
