Re: What was David Nalbandians best chance to win a slam to date?

Say he took that match point or somehow closed out that breaker to beat Roddick in straight sets.

Now rate his % chance against Fererro in the final.

Given in mind that both had been in Grand Slam finals before, but Fererro had less pressure given he had won a slam.

Whos favourite?

Highlights of 2006 AO Semi Final.

That should have been his final.

Re: What was David Nalbandians best chance to win a slam to date?

Surprised no one mentioned RG 2004, where he also reached semifinals. He had 5-1 in the second set against Gaudio to even things up, but his lack of fitness showed. Then Gaudio cruised. Would have liked his chances against mental midget Coria in that final.

US Open 2003 was surely the closest he got.

2005 TMC final, David Nalbandian comes back from 2 sets to 0 down to beat Federer!

Thats the only time I have ever seen Fit Dave, and he was unstoppable! Federer was lucky to get a set really.

I have no doubt Nalbandian could have dominated tennis.

He seems to have shaped up recently judging from this video, so heres hoping!

Nalbandian will never be fit enough to play and win 7 matches in a row at a slam even against 7 Michael Russells.

Federer / Haas / Safin / Gaudio / Kuerten / Youzhny / Nadal / Gonzalez / Ljubicic / Hewitt / Soderling / Wawrinka / Coria / Nalbandian / Kohlschreiber

USOpen 2003 was a great shot.

He was playing awesome during 2006 Roland Garros, but no-one knows against Nadal in a FO Final. But he was close there.

Lets also not forget 2006 Wimbledon, he lost 2 breakers 11-9 to a young Fernando Verdasco in 3rd round.

A pretty easy draw of Bjorkman, Federer, then Nadal awaited him.

He might have got close
