del potro's consistency while hitting those huge grounstrokes is amazing. only person i can see challenging him at all on hard is murray. can't see anyone but nadal being a challenge to him on clay in the future.

imo he'll only win at roland garros from now on.

federer had an injury at this year's wimbledon and he hasn't been in form this year at all. if he gets back in form and is healthy and fit he can win wimbledon again. murray and delpo are too good on hard, and nadal and delpo is too good clay.

murray hasn't gotten any slams because he met jesusfed in both finals. now that jesusfed isn't here anymore, he can win some.

delpo will recover from the wirst injury. won't be in his best form until next year though.

nadal will win 1 slam next year, and that'll be roland garros.

they will both win 5 at least.

del potro and murray will.

what do you find so funny?

murray will improve, and he can take care of big hitters, all he needs to do is cut out errors and just be a little more aggressive.

del potro's level is way way higher than soderling's soderling is very very good, but he's a poor man's delpo. delpo will win many many more slams, is he improves on grass a lot, i can see him getting the career grand slam and maybe even a calendar slam.

I think Nadal is going to win AT LEAST one more HC slam, maybe not USO, but quite possibly AO. Australian Open is earlier in the season, and his knees won't bother him too much. He has already won one AO. He has the chance to win another IMO. He will quite possibly win two or three more RG's and maybe one or two more Wimbly's. That'll leave him with like 12-14 slams.

Re: Murray and Del Potro: The Future of Tennis

where does this even come from.

I wish it would happen for Andy but facts are facts.

He hasn't won a set against Rafa on grass or clay and the head to head is firmly in Rafa's favour.

Federer head to head is nearer but Federer (who is allegedly in decline) has still won their last 3 encounters which suggests he has figured Andy out, and in a slam final when it counts he hasn't dropped a set against Andy.

I think he could win 1 or 2 slams when his career is all said and done but let's not get carried away here..
murray faced jesusfed in both those finals, and he never had a chance.
had he been facing other players he would have 2 slams already.
federer isn't jesusfed anymore therefore murray will have more chances on hardcourt slams and he'll take them.

only player that can really withstand his power is murray, but murray isn't good enough on clay.
nadal will find it hard to beat him on clay

Didn't you say something like this before he won Wimbledon?
i'm not sure.
i'm very confident he won't win any slams off clay every again though

Roger's gonna be winning his 17th.
of course, he'll win wimbledon next year, or maybe another one.
he has 2 slams left in him

i don't think he'll win a hardcourt slam every again, or wimbledon either.
obviously he'll win some more at rg.
he'll end up with 10 slams, 2 more at rg.

Murray's got a long way to go before his potential can be deemed worthy of multiple slam wins.

Re: Murray and Del Potro: The Future of Tennis

I imagine there is little point to this but how do you explain your idol's much rosier view of Nadal in contrast to your much more critical estimation of his prowess?

Again, Nadal and Murray are roughly the same age and neither you nor anyone on this board has seen Del Potro hit a forehand since he was injured which one would think is an important detail. Nor would I draw too many long-term conclusions about Del Potro's match up with Nadal from their last couple of matches (much less on clay) anymore than I would were Nadal or anyone else to beat Del Potro a couple of times in the next few months.

Wanting something to be so doesn't make it so.

Re: Murray and Del Potro: The Future of Tennis

murray will win a lot of slams, it's only a matter of time.
he also will last longer than nadal, his game isn't nas straining on his body and he doesn't have tendinitis.
del potro will be back to his best sometime next year and then we should see how destructive he can be. many slam titles ahead for both of them.

Federer is falling, Nadal's knees will fuck up, Djokovic will continue playing like shit.

Thinking of it that way, I guess they could.

I will reason in your manner:

We should draw long-term conclusions from Del Potro's first few months back (just as you draw them from Nadal's few months during and shortly after returning from injury against Del Potro himself).

Then we should project that over a 3 year period on a variety of surfaces (against players he hasn't even played on those surfaces) and also stress (with no medical knowledge) that Del Potro can't possibly sustain the same power forehands which seem to have gotten him injured in the first place (which would be fatal to his game at the highest levels were it so).

Then, we could go on to say that Murray doesn't have the game to beat the big boys when it matters as he has failed to do so far and that some of those players will also improve over time (leaving aside the vital detail that Nadal may in fact stay healthier with his new scheduling and preventative treatment).

All of this would be at least as plausible as your scenario which would embarrass both Murray and Del Potro if they were to read it themselves no doubt.
