Question What's more important: Your fave player doing well or a player you dislike failing?

Whilst reading comments on GM I always get the impression that for a lot of people it seems to be far more important that a player they don't like flops in a tournament instead of just concentrating on their favourite player and supporting them.

So I thought to make a poll about this

I would like my favorite doing well because the one I dislike failed (Wimbledon SF 2009, Roddick df Murray )

Of course it's better to see my favorite player doing well. That's so obvious. Fed fans have had the privilege of seeing their favorite doing well for many, many years and still seem to feel the need to belittle other players who triumph from time to time, so I don't know exactly what they are thinking.

Of course, Nadal doing well AND beating Federer to boot, is always

I much rather Murray winning than Nadull or Faker losing early, because Nadull and Faker would lose anyway if Murray won

My favourite doing well.

I honestly think most people here would prefer to see their favourite player doing well. I was disappointed to see how many people put Fed/Nadal to lose early as one of their wishes on the "3 Wishes for Wimbledon" thread. A bit pathetic.

My fav doing well all the way

I don't really have players I don't like in general and always. There are players I don't like temporary - losing me a bet or a PAW pick, behaving like jerks in certain matches etc. I get mad with them for that match but then all my dislike goes away until next one loses me a bet/PAW pick etc.

When I'm good, I'm very good...but when I'm bad, I'm better

That wasn't the question. It was "doing well" rather than winning.

Would you rather Murray got to the Wimbledon final and lost to either Rafa or Nole, or he got to the QF but Rafa and Nole both lost in the 1st round?

I think you'd prefer the latter, but we can excuse you on account of your age.

Curiously enough, I didn't like Federer much when he was winning everything on sight back in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In point of fact, even though I liked his game a lot, I usually used to root against him because it was pretty boring to see him winning virtually everything. It was only when he started to lose more often that I found myself rooting for him for some reason.

There again with the age thing. You do know I won't fall into your trap and get banned, don't you?

I know it isn't, it's what I would rather. Out of the scenarios you said, I would rather Murray reached the final. The loss to Faker/Nadull would be hard to take though.
