* Another impressive victory of Roko, in this case over Jan Hernych who was clearly the favourite to win in advance.
* Remarkable win 24-22 on the 3rd set of Mahut over Bogdanovic
* Surprising defeat of Flavio against Santi Ventura

I think the victories of Fischer and Ventura were to be expected, and Kirillov's is not that surprising either given Goodall's horrible form.

Dear Marquez,

That`s great to see that u have seen both players before. Perhaps u have noticed that Cipolla plays with a particular style of tennis: his forehand is efectively flat, his slice backhand is perfect, inspite he is not tall he build the attacking points really well, his volleys and smash are good, his tactics are ok, his return of serve is ok. I agree with you that his serve is a crap but inspite he doesn`t have very powerful groundstrokes the points are quite well built. Along with his serve, his weakest issue is the fact that he is a very unstable player during the match.

On the other hand, Ventura`s serve is descent, his dropshot is perfect, his groundstrokes are ok and he is really unpredictable, really unstable plauer but when he wakes up over his right foot he can be a very dangerous player.

So both players have their serious deficits. But all the issues I mentioned about Cipolla made him the favourite for grass courts according to me. As you said that you have seen both players before I wonder if you have ever played tennis. I mean, in a quite descent and competitive way to say that you pretty understand the game.

Of course this is not a math lesson and whatever can happen on a tennis match (for instance that a player is not in his best day...)

Teach me a lesson.

Re: Wimbledon. 2nd round of quallies

* Another good victory for Ebden. Tomorrow he is going to have a big test against Dent
* Ball vs Muller: This is going to be a great match to see. I hope Gilles can make it on the main draw
* Very good victory for Tomic against Roger Vasselin

mate I've been playing tennis for more than 15 years
I'm not doubting your tennis knowledge but you seem to be overrating cipolla a lot.
ever thought about what a weak serve can cause against a player like ventura who likes to come to the net after solid approach shots?
the opportunity to hit good returns, to put pressure on your opponent.
thats probably what ventura has done with cipolla, the fact that cipolla might be able to built points well doesn't matter that much when you dont get the time to do so. This matchup should have offered ventura plenty of chances to put cipolla under pressure on cipollas serve while venturas serve should have allowed him to put him into a much better position for the following shots at least.

Hope that you understand the game a bit better now, dont forget its the simple and obvious things that can make a big difference sometimes

hehehe!!! thank you for the suggestions

Don`t take it so seriously. That is something I find it with some posters in MTF. We can differ in our opinions and look at some matches with different perspectives. It`s just a game after all.
